Swami Vivekananda: ~ “Advaita encompasses everything. Since Advaita requires heavy-duty intellectualism, it had to be progressively simplified.
Sage Sankara strongly advocated the study of Upanishads, and at the same time cautioned that the study of Upanishads alone would not lead to moksha. In matters such as spiritual attainment, one’s own realization was the sole authority and it cannot be disputed
Sage Sankara also said the study of Upanishad was neither indispensable nor a necessary prerequisite for attaining the human goal, the moksha.
Sage Sankara pointed out; that even those who were outside the Upanishad fold were as eligible for moksha as those within the fold were. He declared that all beings are Brahman, and therefore the question of discrimination did not arise. All that one was required to do was to get rid of ignorance (Avidya or duality).
Advaitic Wisdom or Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana
does not need the support of any scripture or revelation like the Veda.
The
Ultimate truth is not based upon the varying theological fancies, which are as
numerous as the sands of the sea, but upon reason, the common heritage of all
mankind, irrespective of color or creed or clime.
Sage Sankara says:~ VC-47-
All the effects of ignorance, root, and branch, are burnt down by the fire of
knowledge, which arises from discrimination between these two—the Self and the
non-Self.
Sage Sankara says:~ VC-162-
There is no liberation for a person of mere book-knowledge, howsoever well-read
in the philosophy of Vedanta, so long as one does not give up the false
identification with the body, sense-organs, etc., which are unreal.
To realize the ultimate Truth or Brahman demands deeper thinking
and reasoning. Those who require mental spoon-feeding, for it is difficult
to grasp.
It is only possible to finger-point to the reality and indicate the
direction. It is not possible to make one realize the truth; it is for the
seeker to verify through, deeper thinking, and reasoning and reflect constantly and
realize it.
I am highlighting all the obstacles on the inner journey and how to
overcome these obstacles. All accumulated knowledge is of no use in the Atmic
path.
It is for every seeker, who is on the Atmic path to realize himself
“What is the truth?, “and “What is untruth?” to assimilate Self-Knowledge
or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana.
My postings are only signposts. The seeker needs
to reflect constantly on the subject until the cobwebs of his doubts and confusion get cleared.
It takes time for the seeker to gain the perfect understanding of
‘what is the truth’ and ‘’what is untruth’.
It takes time for the Soul, the Self to wake up from the sleep of ignorance, and it takes time for
one to realize the truth, which is beyond form, time, and space.
The seekers who will approach with receptiveness will realize all
these pointers from my posts and blogs are helping them to think independently
and they can assimilate the Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma
Gnana, in a proper and perfect way.
Only through the path of reason, one can reach the nondual destination
without any teaching or teacher.
Accepting oneself as some one’s Guru or
someone’s disciple and following someone’s teaching without verification is
the greatest obstacle in the pursuit of truth. Nondual truth is the universal
truth, it belongs to the whole of humanity and it is not the commodity, that can
be bought from the spiritual supermarket.
A permanent view of the world as unreal can come only after Soul-centric reasoning; such knowledge cannot change. Where the seeker is
sufficiently sharp, he can grasp the unreal nature of the world by
Soul-centric reasoning alone.
To know the whole truth, one must know the whole
universe, otherwise, he gets only a a half-truth.
Non-dualistic or Advaitic truth is the uncontradictable truth, it
cannot be attained by discussing and arguing on the base of some teachings or
so Guru.
Sage Sankara
says the world is an illusion; it
includes birth, life, and death, which happens within the world. Thus, the seeker's main aim is to mentally trace the
formless substance of the illusion, which is also the witness of the illusion.
The formless substance and witness of the illusion (world) is the Atman, and
this Atman itself is Brahman.
Sage Sankara ~ VC~ "All
this universe which through ignorance appears as of diverse forms is nothing
else but Brahman which is absolutely free from all the limitations of Maya.
Sage Sankara says the transparent truth of the Self, which is hidden by the illusion, is to be attained through
the instructions of a knower of Brahman, (Gnani).
First,
know ‘what is the truth’ and ‘what is untruth’ for sure. Without realizing what
untruth truth is, it is difficult to know what truth is.
Sage Sankara: ~ VC "As layers of clouds generated by the sun's rays
cover the sun and alone appear (in the sky), so egoism generated by the Self,
covers the reality of the Self and appears by itself."
Sage Sankara: ~VC~ if the universe is true, let it then be perceived in the state
of deep sleep also. As it is not at all perceived, it must be unreal and false
like dreams.
The whole universe is nothing
but the Soul. Therefore, there is no second thing that exists other than the Soul,
which is present in the form of consciousness. The Soul, which is present
in the form of consciousness, is the ultimate truth or Brahman.
The Soul, which is present in
the form of consciousness is the only reality in which everything exists,
to which everything belongs, and from which everything has emerged, is the
cause of everything, and is everything.
Thus, there is a need to
realize the Self is not you but the ‘Self is the Soul, which is present in the
form of consciousness. The world in which we exist is nothing but consciousness.
When the matter is an illusion
created out of the Spirit then the Spirit alone is real.
When the object is created
out of the subject then the subject alone is real.
When the world in which you
exist is created out of consciousness then consciousness alone is real.
The Advaitic reality and unreality are
created out of a single stuff because the unreality (the world in which we
exist), is experienced as a reality we are unaware of the reality hidden by
the unreality.
There is no second thing that exists other than the Soul, which is
present in the form of consciousness. The dualistic illusion, which is
present in the form of the ‘I’, hides the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.
The Soul, which is present in
the form of consciousness is God, and the ‘I’ hides the God.
The Bhagavad Gita itself says: ~ Brahmano hi pratisthaham ~ Brahman (God) is considered the all-pervading consciousness,
which is the basis of all the animate and inanimate entities and material. (14.27).
When Bhagavad Gita says, that God is
considered the all-pervading consciousness which is the basis of all the
animate and inanimate entities and material then nothing has to be accepted as God other than consciousness.
That is why Bhagavad Gita: ~ “The permanent
(consciousness) is always there, only the transient ‘I’ comes and goes. (2.18)
The ‘I’ hides Atman, God in truth.
Bhagavad Gita: ~ “You must first see the ‘I’ as
illusory before you see others as illusory. ~ CH.2 v.16
There is no God but God in truth because
the universe is merely an illusion created out of God in truth. Thus, there is nothing
that is not God in truth. God in truth is the whole, not the part. The part is an illusion.
For a Gnani sees the world in
which he exists as consciousness, just as the goldsmiths view the ornaments
as nothing but the gold. Stick to God by mentally
dropping the illusion. : ~ Santthosh Kumaar
