Advaita means not two, One only without a second.***

The whole  philosophy of Sage Sri, Sankara can be summed up in the following statement:-

Brahma satyam, jaganmithya, jivobrahmaivanaparah ~Brahman alone is real; the world is non-real; and the individual Self is essentially not-different from Brahman.

This is the quintessence of  Sage Sri, Sankara’s metaphysics.
-
The Soul, which is present in the form of the consciousness alone, is real and the waking experience, which is present in the form of the universe, is unreal.  The consciousness is the ultimate truth or Brahman.  Thus, Brahman is the undifferentiated pure consciousness, devoid of parts, attributes, form, changes or limitations whatsoever.

The Advaita is the nature of the Soul. The Soul, the innermost ‘Self’ is Self-luminous and all-pervading and one only, without a second. The Soul, the innermost ‘Self’ is ever-free, pure consciousness. The empirical world is non-real, an appearance born out of the ignorance.

Advaita means not two, One only without a second.  Advaitic truth is beyond the form, time and space. Only the Soul, the innermost ‘Self’ reveals beyond the form, time and space. Advaita is of the nature of the pure consciousness. This truth is Self-existent and cannot be denied, for to deny consciousness is to actually prove its existence.  Realization of this truth is the goal of the seeker of the truth.

The consciousness is the one single reality.  The consciousness is the ultimate truth or Brahman. It then equates this reality with the sole reality of the real existence which is the Soul, which is present in the form of the consciousness.
