A perfect understanding
and assimilation of the Advaitic wisdom of Sage Sankara leads to Self-awareness or Advaitic awareness.
Advaitic wisdom is not meant for orthodox people because of their inherited conditioning or Samskaras.
When you realize the words, thoughts, and world in which you exist are created out of single stuff and that single
stuff is consciousness, then you will realize the truth which is hidden by the
illusory form, time, and space.
When everything is created out of consciousness then there is
no second thing that exists, other than consciousness. It takes time to grasp
the Advaitic truth. All the obstacles have to be overcome one by one.
All fortune gained or lost within the world is within the
illusion because the world in which we exist is merely an illusion. You are
the false Self within the false experience. Therefore whatever you have seen,
known, believed, and experienced within this illusory world is bound to be an
illusion.
To realize this world is an illusion, you must realize the ‘Self’
is not you, but the ‘Self’ is the formless Soul. From the standpoint of the Soul, the Self, the world in which we exist is merely an illusion.
There is nothing to discuss or argue in the Atmic path. Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana is knowledge of God one without the second. Where there is no second thing then what is there to argue and discuss.
Instead of finding fault first realize what the Self is in
actuality. Amazingly an honest introspection will reveal that all fault lies
with “you” and “your "own perceptions and attitudes. If there is an error
in understanding what 'Self' is in actuality it is in “you".
Correcting this and changing to a Soulcentric attitude will change your perception
and then the Soul; the 'Self' will reveal its formless, timeless, and spaceless
true nature.
The true seeker with all the humility must use
language without words and try to discriminate between real and unreal to
realize the truth hidden by the ‘I’ (universe).
Everyone has not got the capacity to know the Truth very few have: but some
among these few are so sharp that they have only to hear it explained by proper
guidance when they grasp it at once. They have only to stabilize their
illumination.
Remember:~
The path of orthodoxy is the path of
ignorance. Orthodox people will not be able to drop their inherited samskara or
conditioning, which they think is their inherited path only way to Moksha.
The Advaitic orthodoxy is based on
personal Gods whereas Sage Sankara’s Supreme Brahman (God in truth) is impersonal, Nirguna (without Gunas or
attributes), Nirakara (formless), Nirvisesha (without special characteristics),
immutable, eternal, and Akarta (non-agent). God in truth is above all needs and desires.
God in truth is always the Witnessing Subject. God in truth can never become an object as God in truth is
beyond the reach of the senses. God in truth is non-dual, one without a second. God in truth has
no other besides it. God in truth destitute of difference, either external or
internal. God in truth cannot be described because the description implies a distinction.
God in truth cannot be distinguished from any other than God in truth. In God in truth, there is not a distinction between substance and attribute. Sat-Chit-Ananda constituted
the very essence or Svarupa of God in truth, and not just God in truth's attributes. The Nirguna
Brahman of Sage Sankara is impersonal.
Advaitic
orthodoxy accepts the experience of birth, life, death, and the world as reality, whereas Sage Sankara declares the world is unreal Brahman alone
is real.
Thus
the experience of birth, life, and death happening within the unreal world is bound
to be a falsehood. Thus, the religion and religious belief and its ritual based
on the birth entity is bound to be a falsehood. Thus, the seeker has to realize
‘what is that is real and eternal?
Advaitic Orthodoxy is the path of ignorance. The ignorants worship mechanically perform the prescribed sacrifices without any thought as to why they are doing them.
That is why Ish Upanishads says: - such people no wonder they grope in the dark. They are doomed unless someday the truth dawns on them that to save themselves they must seek Self-knowledge.
And also, it says:~ Worse, however, is the situation of those who worship vidya. The word Vidya ¸ usually means "knowledge', but here it is used to mean "gods and goddesses'. Some people worship gods and goddesses so that they may someday attain the same status. They may get their desire fulfilled, but this will only delay their liberation. That is why the Upanishad says that they will be in deeper darkness.
Religious believers are sentimentally attached to their religion, religious ideas of God, scriptures, and religious code of conduct; they will not accept anything else as truth other than their accepted truth. There is no use in discussing with such a mindset because nothing can be gained from such a discussion.
Religious believers are unfit for the Atmic path unless they drop all their accumulated knowledge.
All sect-based beliefs are dualistic and unphilosophical nothing to do with the ultimate truth or Brahman. In spirituality, the ultimate truth is God in truth. Sage Sankara’s wisdom has nothing to do with orthodox belief systems.
Sage Sankara: ~ VC- Let erudite scholars quote all the scripture, let Gods be invoked through sacrifices, let elaborate rituals be performed, let personal Gods be propitiated -- yet, without the realization of one‘s identity with the Self, there shall be no liberation for the individual, not even in the lifetimes of a hundred Brahmas put together (verses-6)
The Atman, which is present in the form of consciousness is the ultimate truth or Brahman or God in truth.
Sage Sankara’s wisdom has nothing to do with orthodox belief systems. Sage Sankara is the only sage who has final authority on the Advaitic truth. The Advaitic truth is rational truth and scientific truth without dogma.
The Advaitic orthodoxy is not the means to acquire Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana. Advaitic orthodoxy is meant for the ignorant populace that is unfit to grasp the highest truth. The Advaitic orthodoxy has nothing to do with the ultimate truth or Brahman.
All sect-based beliefs are dualistic and unphilosophical nothing to do with the ultimate truth or Brahman.
Remember:~
In Spirituality the ultimate truth is God. Thus, the Advaitic orthodoxy is a sect that has nothing to do with the Advaitic wisdom of the Sage Sankara. Advaitic orthodox sect is meant for the ignorant populace.
Sage Sankara: ~ ‘Reality can be realized
only with the eye of understanding, not just by a scholar. What the moon is
like must be seen with one's own eyes. How can others do it for
you?"~Vivekachoodamani
Advaitic Orthodoxy misinterpreted Sage Sankara and presented only the religious
side of his teaching as the highest doctrine. Thus, people are misled. The orthodoxy is based on rituals mythical
Gods and Karma. Advaitic wisdom of Sage Sankara
has nothing to do with Advaitic orthodoxy.
Let Advaitic wisdom annihilate ignorance (I) and reveal Soul,
the Self the God in truth.
Let your ears
become deaf to the untruth propagated by the religion as a reality; enable you
to realize the truth hidden by the ignorance (I).
Let your eyes become blind to the illusion of receiving the Soul as the Self as it is in the midst of the dualistic illusion.
Remember:~
According
to Advaita Vedanta, the Veda addresses itself to two kinds of audiences - the
ordinary ones who desire the transitory heaven and other pleasures obtained as
a result of ritual sacrifices, and the more advanced seeker who seeks to know
Brahman. Thus, the Purva mimam. sa, with its emphasis on the karma kanda of the
Vedas, is meant for the first audience, to help lead its followers along the
way. However, the Vedanta, with its emphasis on the jnana kanda, is meant for
those who wish to go beyond such transient pleasures.
Those who lack the intelligence to discriminate
between formless witness (subject) and three states (object) will not be able
to grasp what is real and what is unreal. Both subject and object are consciousness, not subject alone.
The rituals mentioned in the karmakanda of the Vedas are sought
to be negated in the jnanakanda which is also part of the same scripture. While
the karmakanda enjoins upon you the worship of various deities and lays down
rules for the same, the jnanakanda constituted by the Upanishads ridicules the
worshiper of deities as a dim-witted person no better than a beast.
This seems strange, the
latter part of the Vedas contradicting the former part. The first part deals
throughout with karma, while the second or concluding part is all about jnana. Owing to this difference, people have gone so far as to divide
our scripture into two sections: the Vedas (that is the first part) to mean the
karmakanda and the Upanishads (Vedanta) to mean the jnanakanda.
All the orthodox ideas were rejected by Sage Sankara. There is no need to indulge in rituals, to realize the ultimate truth or Brahman. There is no need to study
philosophy, to realize the ultimate truth or Brahman so why indulge in studying philosophy.
Sage Sankara pokes fun at ascetics and points out that all
their austerities do not cause desires to go (Altar
Flowers" Page 205, v.2 P.207 v.4)
Sage Sankara pointed out that those rituals could in
no way bring about wisdom, much less moksha.
Sage Sankara says the rewards of the rituals
are not a matter of direct realization. Advaitic wisdom is based on personal
realization.
The orthodox Advaitin believes
that rituals alone would lead one to higher levels of attainment. Further, the
deities would reward only those entitled to perform the rituals alone. The
entitlement involved caste, creed, and other parameters.
The scriptural authority and
value of rituals are part of the Advaitic orthodoxy, which is meant for
ignorant people.
The Advaitic wisdom of Sage Sankara has nothing to do with religion, caste, rituals, worship, yoga, and other practices. Therefore an
obvious disparity between Sage Sankara‘s path of Gnana and the path of
Karma.
The path of Gnana is meant for the advanced seeker of truth and the path of
Karma is meant for the ignorant populace.
Even Sage Sankara appears and tells the orthodox people the path of orthodoxy is the path of
ignorance they will not be able to drop their inherited samskara or
conditioning, which they think is the only way to reach heaven and reap a happy
life in the next life.
As regards the rituals, Sage Sankara says, that the person who performs rituals and aspires for rewards will view
himself in terms of the caste into which he is born, his age, the stage of his
life, his standing in society, etc. In addition, he is required to perform
rituals all through his life. However, the Self has none of those attributes or
tags. Hence, the person who superimposes all those attributes on the changeless,
eternal Self and identifies the ‘Self’ with the body is confusing one for the
other; and is, therefore, an ignorant person. The scriptures dealing with
rituals, rewards, etc. are therefore addressed to an ignorant person.-
(11- Adhyasa Bhashya)
First
Mundaka - Chapter 2 (10) - Ignorant fools, regarding sacrifices and humanitarian works as
the highest, do not know any higher good. Having enjoyed their reward on the
heights of heaven, gained by good works, they still remain in ignorance of the
Atman the real God.
As a
person one performs rituals throughout his life. The person who performs rituals and aspires
for rewards will view the world in which he exists as a reality. However, the
Soul, the Self unborn eternal hidden by the world in which he exists. From the standpoint of the Soul, the world in
which he exists is merely an illusion.
The
scriptures dealing with rituals, rewards, etc. are therefore addressed
to an ignorant person.
First
Mundaka - Chapter 2 (9) - Children, immersed in ignorance in various ways, flatter themselves,
saying: We have accomplished life's purpose. Because these performers of karma
do not know the Truth owing to their attachment, they fall from heaven,
misery-stricken, when the fruit of their work is exhausted.
First
Mundaka - Chapter 2 (8) - Fools, dwelling in darkness, but wise in their own conceit and
puffed up with vain scholarship, wander about, being afflicted by many ills,
like blind men led by the blind.
Ish Upanishad
declares:~ Those people who have neglected the attainment
of Self-knowledge and have thus committed suicide. 10/11/12
The religious
orthodox people who have neglected the attainment of Self-knowledge and have
thus committed suicide, as it were, are doomed to enter those worlds after
death.
This is a condemnation
of people who do not try to attain Self-knowledge. They are, in a real sense,
committing suicide, for what can be worse than being a slave to sense
enjoyment, completely oblivious of the real purpose of life, which is to be one’s, own master?
Remember:~
The seeker should not bother about
finding the meaning of what is written in the scriptures. The scripters are not
necessary to realize the ultimate truth or Brahman. The scriptures are meant for the ignorant populace. Scriptures have
no value for the seeker of truth.
That is why Sage Sankara said: ~ Neither by the practice of yoga
nor philosophy, nor by good works nor by learning, does liberation come, but
only through the realization that Atman and Brahman are one in no other way. (1) VivekaChudamani v 56, pg 25
Katha Upanishad says:~ Fools
dwelling in darkness, but thinking themselves wise and erudite, go round and
round, by various tortuous paths, like the blind led by the blind. (Ch II-5
P-14)
Even Upanishads clearly say:~
Katha Upanishad 1:2:23:~ The Soul
cannot be realized through hearing a scholarly explanation of the discourses,
not even by the intellect.
Katha Upanishad 1:3:6: ~ “Through
the knowledge of the Soul, God, one is pure and clean constantly.” Neither by
reading the books nor by taking a bath at the holy place has one become pure.
Inner purity is possible when one remains in constant touch with the Soul. Constant
Soul-Consciousness itself purity.
Kena Upanishad 2:4:~ When it is
known through every state of cognition, it is rightly known, for (by such
knowledge) one attains life eternal. Through one's own 'self' one gains power
and through wisdom, one gains immortality.
Kena Upanishad 2:5:~ If here one
knows it, then there is the truth, and if here one knows it not, there is a
great loss. Hence, seeing the Real in all beings, wise men become immortal on
departing from this world.
Mundaka Upanishad 1:2:8:~ “Remaining
in the fold of ignorance and thinking, “we are extremely wise and learned,” the
fools with boastful nature ramble about like the blind led by the blind alone.”
Mundaka Upanishad 3:2:3:~ “The weak
and timid cannot realize the Self. Self-realization is not possible through
intellect or hearing the spiritual discourse. "
Mundaka Upanishad 3:2:3:~ The Soul
cannot be realized by the weak and timid.
I am quoting the scriptures and
sages of truth to show that the scriptures are not necessary to realize the
Advaitic truth. The seeker should not stick to scriptures and try to find the
meaning of the scriptural citation. It is a waste of time. The same time can be utilized to realize the truth beyond form, time, and space.
Remember:~
The words are used only for communication purposes. The look of an object will depend upon the medium through which the observer views it. In fact, our mental and intellectual conditions will determine the phenomenal world observed and experienced.
The words are needed until one gets a firm conviction of ‘what is what’. People need reading and hearing the words to think reason reflect deeply and reach the ultimate end. The truth-seeker seeks only truth. The inner Sage will guide you. Your sincerity and seriousness lead you to your inner core. Sincere and serious seekers are not excluded.
All the chosen ones will get freedom from experiencing the illusion (duality) as a reality. All the seekers of truth are chosen ones.
Katha Upanishads: ~ This Atman is attained by him alone whom It chooses. To such a one Atman reveals Its own form. ( II -23-P-20)
All the chosen ones will get freedom from experiencing the illusion (duality) as a reality. All the seekers of truth are chosen ones. Millions are searching for truth, but one in a million will realize it. If you are a truth seeker then you are, one from that million.
It takes time for the seeker to gain the perfect understanding of ‘what is the truth’ and ‘’what is untruth’.
Start your journey even though you may find it difficult first as you go on reading the post your subconscious will start dropping the dualistic egocentric knowledge and start accepting the Soul-centric Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana.
Everyone’s inner work is on. The Formless Soul, the inner Guru (Self) guides us all till we get the stillness of its nondual true nature.
As you raft upon which you cross the swift river to get to the other side; once you are on the other side of the shore; there is no longer any need to carry the raft. The far shore is the reality when you reach it, you can see quite clearly that there was never any river at all. :~Santthosh Kumaar
